LogiSon Acoustic Network Wins Two Best of NeoCon® 2006 Awards
2006-06-16

Chicago, 2006 – The latest generation of the LogiSon Acoustic Network received the Silver Best of NeoCon Award in the Workplace Technologies category, while the Remote Manager Software earned Gold in the Software Technologies category.

The Network’s new Control Panel is Ethernet-enabled, allowing the user to manage the audio settings for facilities of up to 8 million square feet from one location, representing an increase in Network size of 13,000%. Additional highlights include improved diagnostic capabilities, enhanced security featuring 128-bit encrypted communication and 3-tier password protection, green initiatives such as voluntary North American RoHS compliance, and a Programmable Keypad. The Programmable Keypad and the accompanying Remote Control provide on-demand control of the masking and paging volume in private offices and conference rooms, a must-have for conversations requiring oral privacy, minimal interruptions, or video-conferencing.

The Remote Manager Software runs on a handheld computer, allowing the user to wirelessly control the settings for a single speaker, a group of speakers or the entire Network. The software increases the ease and efficiency of adjustment for both technicians and end-users by allowing a single person to make changes to the masking, paging, music, zone, timer and keypad settings within seconds, while they are standing in the area that will be affected.

Best of NeoCon 2006 was sponsored by Contract Magazine, Merchandise Mart Properties Inc., the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), and McMorrowReport.com. Entrants were evaluated by a team of 54 facilities management executives and interior designers based on considerations of functionality, flexibility, quality/durability, aesthetics/style, innovation, pricing and environmental sustainability.

LogiSon Acoustic Network Wins Symposium Distinction Award for Most Innovative Product
2007-03-08

The LogiSon Acoustic Network has earned the Symposium Distinction Award for Most Innovative Product. The awards are sponsored by FacilityCare Magazine in association with the Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo. Grand prize awards, such as Most Innovative Product, are presented to those outstanding new products whose unique design contributes to the enrichment of a healing environment.

The LogiSon Acoustic Network is a digital sound masking, paging and music system. Because it makes noises and conversations more difficult – or impossible – to hear, it has benefits for patients and staff. Patients’ fear of being overheard is reduced and they can speak freely with their caregiver. The resulting privacy helps fulfill HIPAA requirements pertaining to the oral communication of Protected Health Information. The Network minimizes the differences in the level and quality of sound across space and over time, making the facility more comfortable. Studies have found that masking reduces sleep disruptions related to noise. The Network also provides staff with freedom from distracting noises, increasing productivity and reducing error rates.

Winners will be announced during a luncheon on October 24, 2006 in conjunction with the Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo in Chicago, Illinois.

Presenting Our HIPAA Compliance Package
2002-07-28

By April 14, 2003 virtually all healthcare organizations in the USA will be required to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).  This new federal regulation from the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) ensures greater protection of patients' private health information.

What is often overlooked is that the privacy law also includes coverage of "oral communications" and requires that medical organizations take steps to provide their patients and customers with a level of speech privacy.

The Scamp Sound Masking System can significantly increase speech privacy levels in all types of healthcare facilities.  This system is inexpensive, easy to install and effective.  It has been used in healthcare facilities for many years, including in doctors' offices, hospitals, medical clinics, and medical labs and is currently being considered as part of the HIPAA compliance program for thousands of facilities across the US.

The Scamp System has recently been acoustically tested in a healthcare environment and has demonstrated measurably higher levels of speech privacy.

Contact your Scamp Distributor to find out more about the requirements for speech privacy and the Scamp System.

Scamp® Manufacturer Helps Rewrite CSA Guidelines
2001-02-15

In December 2000, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) updated its Guideline on Office Ergonomics (Doc# Z412-00).  Section 6.3 of the Guideline, entitled The Acoustical Environment, discusses the basic elements of acoustical design in open and closed plan office environments.

The CSA invited Scamp Sound Masking Systems to rewrite The Acoustical Environment in conjunction with several acoustical consultants and engineers from across the country.  The resulting document is a good introductory source of information for those interested in learning about office acoustics.  Copies of the guideline can be obtained from the CSA.
